Norman L. Garlick

April 11, 1916 — February 15, 2007

Norman L. Garlick of Reading passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Wingate at Reading. He was 90 years of age.





Born in Washington, Norman was the dear son of the late Lee Garlick and Norma (Roberts) Garlick. Norman was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed.





Norman was a dedicated veterinarian who owned his own practice. He conducted research on heartworm disease in dogs, tuberculosis in cattle and monitored bison herds. Norman was active in the Folly Beach Church in South Carolina. He was a devoted member of the Barber Shop Quartet, Sam's club with airstream. Norman also enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling. He was also proud to be a representative to the Silver Haired Congress in South Carolina.





Norman wrote several position papers on Social Security for the Social Security Administration. He loved landscaping and building projects on his home. Norman was a proud United States Army Veteran.





Norman was the beloved husband of Helen (Frantz) Garlick. He was the devoted father of Marilyn G. Reid of Reading and Marvin L. Garlick and his wife Dolores of Maryland. Norman was the cherished grandfather of Jonathan Reid and his wife Joei, Justin, Jared, Jennifer Brewer and her husband Dave and Jessica. He was the loving great grandfather of Alethea, Mikaela, Caleb, Sarah and Nicholas and the dear brother of the late Norma Etherington.





Family and friends are kindly invited to join with his family at the Joseph Doherty-Barile Family funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING Saturday at 11 am. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot located on Haven St.Late US Army Veteran.
