Patricia Sheila (Curran) Harrington, a lifelong resident of Somerville, passed on August 31, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. Whether you called her "Patricia", "Pat", "Ma", "Nana", "Regular Nana", "Aunt Pat" or "Sarge", she was a force to be reckoned with for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as a long list of day care children to whom she provided care.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Timothy Harrington, her children Christine Weeks of Springfield, Virginia (Arthur), Timothy of Tewksbury (Denise), Michael of Peabody (Liane), Maureen of San Francisco, California (Robert Singer) and Richard of Tewksbury (Mariella). She is also survived by her beloved thirteen grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her only brother, Donald Curran of Somerville.
The family will cherish memories of the Thanksgiving dinners that she cooked, days at the beach, trying to beat her at Scrabble (good luck), getting ratted out on snacking by her glass M&M jar, playing gin rummy (straights only), her love of reading, and knowing that under her watchful eyes (including the ones she bragged about in the back of her head) you got away with nothing. Her watchful eyes will forever be upon us… but we knew that.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of MGH Cancer Center in Danvers and all the caregivers from York Hospital Hospice that provided compassionate care to her throughout her illness to the end at home.
