In Loving Memory of Patricia “Marie” Cinganelli
Patricia Marie Cinganelli, 90 years young, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 8th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 17th, 1934, in Cambridge, MA, Patricia was the cherished daughter of Margaret and James Walsh. She grew up alongside her siblings Margaret “Peggy” Cooper, and the late James “Sonny” Walsh, Edward Walsh, and Madeline Sico.
Patricia was known for being a sweet, loyal, and loving daughter, always speaking highly of her parents despite the hardships they faced. Patricia “Marie” was the beloved wife of the late Amedeo “Tony” Cinganelli, with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2015. Their enduring love was the foundation of her life and a source of inspiration to her family. She was a devoted mother to Wayne A. Cinganelli and his wife Loreen, Kathie A. DeCrescenzo and her husband Bobby, Debora A. Cinganelli and her husband Bobby Lytle, and the late Brian A. Cinganelli. Patricia adored her grandchildren, Jessica Cinganelli, Nicholas Cinganelli, Erica Covelle and her husband JR, Robert DeCrescenzo and his fiancée Michelle Racioppi, Joseph DeCrescenzo and his wife Tori, and Alex Lytle, as well as her great-grandchildren Jude, Ila, Sonny, Emma, and Jacob, who brought her endless joy.
Patricia dedicated her life to her family, embodying love, care, and devotion. As a homemaker with an exceptional flair for decorating, she created a home that was both warm and inviting, marked by her impeccable attention to detail. Her favorite thing to do was decorate for the holidays, with Halloween and Christmas being her all-time favorites. She took such joy in making every season magical, always going the extra mile to create wonder for her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. At Halloween, seeing the children dressed up would light up her face with the biggest smile, and there was always candy waiting at Nana’s house. Christmas was a time for even more joy, with her decorations and love filling her home with warmth and happiness. Her compassionate spirit extended beyond her immediate family. She worked with the Little Sisters of the Poor in Somerville, an organization devoted to caring for the elderly poor, providing dignity and love to those in their final days. This role reflected her lifelong calling to ensure others felt cared for and valued. Later in life, Patricia continued her role as the ultimate caregiver, pouring her heart into caring for her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, and she was always thinking of them, ensuring they were loved and cared for deeply. Whether it was through her thoughtful gifts, special treats, or her ever-present smile, she cherished every moment spent with them. Her home was a haven filled with candy, laughter, and countless memories, and no one ever left without a little something sweet.
Patricia also had a creative and vibrant spirit, pouring her love into hobbies such as crocheting, knitting, painting by numbers, and gardening. Her favorite flowers, marigolds, and her love of the color orange were ever-present symbols of her personality. York Beach, Maine, held a special place in her heart. Summers spent there with Tony were filled with long beach walks, rum raisin ice cream, and puzzles shared with love. At home, Patricia found joy in small pleasures—listening to music while she worked, savoring a cup of tea with extra sugar and a jelly donut, and enjoying burgers and fries at Wild Willy’s. A devoted Catholic, Patricia never missed church on Sundays and prayed the rosary nightly. Her faith was a source of strength for her family, and her prayers provided comfort and protection to all she loved. Patricia’s strength, intuition, and wisdom were unmatched. She had a remarkable ability to sense when others needed comfort, offering sound advice and unconditional support. Her forthright nature and unwavering love made her a pillar of her family and a guiding light for everyone who knew her. She will be remembered as a beacon of love, intuition, and resilience—a woman whose legacy of care, devotion, and strength will inspire generations to come. Patricia was loved dearly and will be forever missed but never forgotten. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who cherished her.
