Patrick F. Jordan Jr. of Stoneham, died peacefully on October 14, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 69 years of age. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of fifty years, Kathleen (Canniff) Jordan and their children Patrick and Katherine Jordan, Colleen and Brian Shinney, Kimberly and Paul Plourde, Eileen and Timothy Madigan, and Meaghan and Todd Meyers. He leaves his loving grandchildren, Patrick and Riley Jordan; Mathew Shinney; Jennifer and Julia Plourde; Maggie, Thomas, and Molly Madigan and Jack, Keira, and Delaney Meyers. He is also survived by his sisters Mary (Jordan) Reardon and Noreen (Jordan) Donovan, and brothers-in-laws Edward Donovan and Alex Byron, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and old friends. He is predeceased by his parents Patrick F. Jordan, Sr. and Margaret (Doherty) Jordan both of Ireland and his sisters Anna (Jordan) Murphy and Kathleen (Jordan) Byron.
Born and raised in Stoneham, MA, Pat attended St. Patrick grammar school in Stoneham and Notre Dame High School in Cambridge, where he led the varsity basketball team to win the state championship his senior year. At Notre Dame he met his high school sweetheart, Kathleen, whom he married. He is a retired state servant and worked many years in the State House as chief of staff for Senators John Brennan and William Keating. He also worked at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for many years serving in a variety of positions, including the special assistant to the general manager and the Chief of Railroad Operations. He served the Town of Stoneham for many years on the Board of Selectman, and his tenure spanned parts of three decades. He was very proud of being a delegate to the 1980 Presidential Democratic National Convention. He was an active member of the Mistletoe Society and was proud to have earned the green jacket along with his son. He was fortunate enough to visit Ireland many times, especially his beloved Malin Head where he built a soccer field named for his mother. His greatest memories involved gatherings with family and friends, where song and celebration were center in his self-built private back-yard Irish Pub. Pat loved all things Irish. He personified family, leaving his children and grandchildren with pride in their heritage, country, and family.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Friday October 18, 2013 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Patrick's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 3-7pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and handicapped elevator are available. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
