Paul Joseph DiMare, age 58, of Medford MA (formerly of Stoneham MA) passed away Sunday, April 17, after a prolonged and progressive illness that prompted numerous hospitalizations during the last 5 years of his life.
Paul was a 1975 graduate of Stoneham high school. As Paul always had a passion for music and began playing piano at an early age (he was musically gifted and had very little formal training), he went on to pursue his dream of working as a professional musician. Over the years he was fortunate enough to play with a number of bands as their keyboard player, two of which earned some notoriety in the Boston area. Paul was a kind and caring person who enjoyed many enduring friendships during his life. He was especially close to his family, often entertaining them with his musical talent and his tremendous wit and sense of humor, for which he was well known. He had many nieces and nephews who adored him, was a cherished son and brother and, although he had very little materially, Paul was very generous, giving regularly to St. Jude's Research Hospital for Children and the Save the Children Foundation. Paul will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Paul is the beloved son of the late Salvatore and Frances (Doherty) DiMare. He is the dear brother of Geri DiMare Chapman, David DiMare and his wife Susan, Susan Sennott and her husband Leo and Maggi DiMare. Paul is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A Funeral Mass Celebrating Paul's Eternal Life will be held St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham on Saturday April 23rd at 10am.
Please consider making a donation in Paul's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
