Paul, lovingly known to family and friends as “Bubba,” passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, hard work, faith, and family that will continue for generations.

Paul was the devoted husband of his beloved wife, Bunny, with whom he shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with family, friendships, laughter, and countless memories. Whether sitting together watching the Patriots from the clubhouse, enjoying summers on their deck at the Cape, or simply holding court with family and friends, Paul and Bunny were a team in every sense of the word.

A deeply devoted Catholic, Paul’s faith was an important part of his life. He also believed strongly in giving back to others. For many years, he was a dedicated Dana-Farber platelet donor, making more than 470 donations—an extraordinary gift of his time and himself that undoubtedly helped countless people.

Paul proudly served as a National Guardsman, and he carried that same sense of duty and commitment into every part of his life.

He was a man with an incredible work ethic. Paul built a successful plumbing business that he ran for 60 years, creating not only a thriving business but a true family legacy. His sons followed in his footsteps, and even some of his grandchildren found their way into the plumbing and construction trades. Paul believed in hard work, and he led by example, teaching everyone around him the importance of dedication, perseverance, and taking pride in a job well done.

Paul had an endless supply of jokes, often leaving those around him either completely in stitches or, at the very least, rolling their eyes. No matter the reaction, Paul considered it a success. If he could make you laugh, groan, or shake your head, he had accomplished exactly what he set out to do.

He was an avid New England Patriots fan, and watching the Pats was never just about the game. From his clubhouse perch, with Bunny by his side, Paul could be counted on to hold court, offer his opinions, and make sure everyone knew exactly what he thought about the game—and probably everything else happening around him.

Paul loved his summers at the Cape, especially the simple pleasure of sitting on his deck, enjoying the view of Swan Pond River, spending time with family, and taking in the moments that mattered most.

Every Christmas, Paul loved playing Santa, a tradition he embraced year after year. He took great pride in making sure every child had the chance to sit with Santa and tell him exactly what they wanted for Christmas. For the children, he was Santa; for Paul, it was another opportunity to make people smile and create a little Christmas magic.

Above all, Paul was a family man. He loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his extended family deeply. He loved being there for all of his grandchildren’s events, whether it was countless sporting events, band, chorus, graduations, recitals, school events, or any of the many milestones in their lives. If one of his grandchildren was involved, Paul wanted to be there to watch, support, and cheer them on.

He gave his family his time, his humor, his work ethic, and a lifetime of memories. He had a way of making an impression—sometimes with a story, sometimes with a joke, and always by simply being himself.

Paul leaves behind not only the family he loved so dearly, but a legacy that can be seen in the people he raised, the business he built, the lives he touched through his generosity, and the countless stories that will be told about him for years to come.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered as our Bubba

Paul is the beloved husband of Irene (Wackrow) “Bunny” Walsh. He is the devoted father of Joseph Walsh and his wife Cheryl, Maryann DiRaffaele and her husband Peter, Paul Walsh and his wife Karen and David Walsh and his wife Jennifer. The cherished grandfather of Stephanie Kiley and her husband Sean, Louise Cortez and her husband Chase, Craig Walsh and his wife Sophia, Paul Walsh III, Alyssa Walsh and her husband Spencer, Chris Walsh and his wife Ashley, Michael DiRaffaele, Rebecca Walsh and Matt Ciampi, Steven Walsh, Brian Walsh, Derek DiRaffaele and Kellyann Walsh, Paul is the doting great grandfather of Joseph, Cole, Beau, Bria, Bryce, Roxanne and Charlotte. He is the dear brother of Anne McCusker and her late husband Bob, Claire Hanlon and her husband Al and the late Reverend Richard Walsh, Francis Walsh, John Walsh, David Walsh, Mary Scheufele, Edith Fallon and Patricia Connolly. Paul is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will truly miss him.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Paul’s Family on Thursday, September 17th from 4-7pm in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28) STONEHAM. Parking attendants and elevator are available.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28) STONEHAM on Friday, September 18th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Paul’s Eternal Life in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street Stoneham at 10am. Interment Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Stoneham.
