Paula M. Leavitt formerly of Middleton and Stoneham passed away in Reading at the home of her sister Kathy Mabius after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Everett, MA, she was the daughter of the late Margaret and Linwood Leavitt.
After high school, Paula began her college career at Mass Bay Community College, but quickly learned business was not for her. She followed her mother into the nursing profession and found her true calling. She received her LPN from Chelsea Soldiers Home and her RN at Mass College of Pharmacy. She worked for many years at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford where she also trained for the ICU/CCU. Some suggested she should go to Medical School, but taking care of the patients and their families was what she loved. They tried giving gifts which she refused, but she did like the chocolates!
When Paula could no longer practice nursing due to a knee injury, she worked for Bay State Insurance and Tufts. She then returned to school to get her MBA at Simmons College.
Paula loved dancing, musical theater, Cape Cod and Ogunquit vacations with family and friends. She loved her yorkie, Bentley. She was the cherished sister of Kathy Mabius, loving sister-in-law to Larry Mabius, adored aunt to Jennifer Mabius and David Mabius and his wife Mihaela, great auntie to Emily and Zachary Mabius, and friend and cousin Phil Leavitt. She also leaves loving and caring friends with whom she shared many happy times.
