Pauline J. (Sparco) Guarino, of Stoneham, formerly of Somerville and Boston's West End passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 88 years of age. Born in Boston in 1933, Pauline was the loving daughter of the late Peter and Christine (Mascheri) Sparco.
She was the beloved wife of Domenic C. Guarino, the devoted mother of Richard Guarino, Cheryl Buccelli and her significant other Philip F. Norton. Pauline was the cherished grandmother of Marc and Lauren Buccelli. She was the dear sister of Francis Sparco and his wife Barbara, Theresa Tynan and her late husband Richard and Michael Sparco. Pauline is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Pauline was a wonderful person, wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother and friend. She faced her Multiple Myeloma diagnosis with grace, bravery and incredible dignity for over seven years. During this time, she taught everyone around her how to face adversity with laughter and a smile on her face.
Well into her 80's Pauline was a devout, churchgoing Catholic until she was unable to physically attend and after that she stayed true to her faith by watching mass on Saturdays and receiving weekly communion from a kind-hearted neighbor.
Pauline loved the ocean and could be seen enjoying fried clams, shrimp, fettuccini alfredo, and a margarita or a cup of tea with dessert. At 1 p.m. sharp, she would always be in front of the TV awaiting her "story" (soap opera).
Pauline loved her bookkeeping occupation for many years and was even more proud of the work she did at Harvard University for over 10 years until her retirement in 1995.
Her greatest desire in life was her family's health and happiness. Pauline was the most easy-going, caring, and selfless person. She always put others' happiness and well-being ahead of her own. She will be missed dearly.
