Peter M. Cunningham Jr. of Reading passed away on September 30, 2016 at age 82. He will be missed by his family, his best friend Maria Mosher, and many others.
Peter was nearly a life-long resident of Reading. As a youngster, he caddied at Meadow Brook Golf Club and spent snowy days there coasting with siblings and friends. He was a devoted son and always took great pride in landscaping his parents' yard, sometimes adorning the mown lawn with a perfect "C" monogram. Later in life he also lived in Tewksbury and North Reading.
Peter proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was trained in electronics and aviation. He also served as an aerial photographer.
After his service, Peter was employed for many years as a Quality Control Manager at DRC. He was later employed by Johnson Roses of Woburn.
With his ready laugh and sense of fun, he was a welcome addition to any gathering. Peter enjoyed driving and working on cars. He was a sharp dresser and great dancer. He faithfully watched Judge Judy and Law and Order, and loved sunflowers and peanut M & Ms. He was a regular customer at Donna's Donuts in Tewksbury. Classic plain donuts were his favorite.
At the center of Peter's life was his decades-long friendship with Maria Mosher. He enjoyed many years of camaraderie with Maria, her late husband Will, and their family.
Peter is survived by his brother Robert Cunningham and his wife Gillyan, brother James Cunningham and his wife Nancy, sister Jean Dalton and her late husband Warren, and his late sisters and brother-in-laws Rita Nelson and her husband Hobart, and Mary Turner and her husband Gary, as well as brother Daniel Cunningham and his surviving wife Martha.
