Peter E. Doherty

Peter E. Doherty, of Reading, passed away on Sunday March 6, 2011 at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody. He was 72 years old.

Peter was a resident of Reading for many years. He was the Reading youth hockey coach for many years as well as the head hockey coach for Reading Memorial High School. He was a member of the Massachusetts State Hockey Hall of Fame and the Reading Memorial High School Hall of Fame. Peter was also the owner of Dynamik Sports in Reading for many years, which is well know to many in the community and surrounding area.





Peter proudly served our Country and was a member of the United States Marines Corps.





Peter was the husband Judith M. (Nygren) Doherty. He was the devoted father of Michael P. Doherty and his wife Amy of Colorado, Mark Doherty and his wife Brenda, Meg M. Gallugi and her husband Michael all of Reading. Peter was the loving grandfather of Abby, Olivia, Laura, Megan, Rachel, and Katherine. Cherished son of the late Joseph and Rita (Aimsworth) Doherty. Dear brother of Pat Doherty of Camden Maine, Joyce Bergholtz of Rockport, Jack Doherty of Arnold Maryland, Dennis Doherty of Palermo Maine, and the late Susan Johnson of Reading.





Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Mass Celebrating Peter's Life on Thursday, March 10 in St. Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St. READING at 10:30am. Visiting Hours will also be held in the church Tuesday, March 8 from 2-8pm. Interment Wood End Cemetery, Reading.
