Peter G. "FinDog" Finnegan

Peter Glenn Finnegan, 62, of Saugus, passed away peacefully at Ledgewood Nursing Home in Beverly on Saturday night, March 24th 2018 after a long struggle with cancer.

Pete, or "FinDog", as he was known by his friends was born in Malden on May 17, 1955 to his parents, the late Peter and Ruth (Monahan) Finnegan. He was remarkably intelligent, perpetually clever and charmingly funny. Pete worked proudly as an engineer for many years, several of them at GE in Lynn. He married his beautiful wife Susan in 1987 and was a family man through and through. He is survived by his wife Susan (Graves) Finnegan, his children Katie and Patrick Finnegan and his sister Therese Haberman.

Funeral from the Doherty Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING Wednesday March 28th at 11am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Peter's Eternal Life in St. Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 12pm. Interment Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.

Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Tuesday March 27th, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants and ramped entrance available.

Anyone who knew Peter knew that he was passionate about three things: Boston sports, Christmas decorations and thirdly and most importantly, his proud Irish heritage. In honor of that, an Irish poem only seemed fitting.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free!
I follow the plan God laid for me.
I saw His face, I heard His call,
I took His hand and left it all...
I could not stay another day,
To love, laugh, to work or play:
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
And if my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss...
Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss.
My life's been full, I've savored much;
Good times, good friends, a loved-one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief-
Don't shorten yours with undue grief.
Be not burdened with tears of sorrow,
Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow.
