Philip Gerard Kerrigan Jr., age 36, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 20th at home, after struggling with complex health issues for several years. He was born on June 9, 1978 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton, MA. He is survived by his loving wife Sarah, son William (5), daughter Emily (1), father Philip, mother Mary, sister Katelyn, father-in-law Joe, mother-in-law Lynn and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Phil grew up in North Reading and attended North Reading School Systems until 8th grade. Phil then attended St. John's Preparatory where he excelled at cross country and outdoor track and the sport he was most passionate about, hockey. Phil was accepted to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York where he studied engineering and spent his senior year studying abroad at the Denmark Technical University. He graduated in 2001 and started his career working for Building Science Corporation in Westford, MA. Phil was a licensed Professional Engineer and worked for BSC for 13 years.
Phil met Sarah on Valentine's Day 2005, after a brief online courtship. She was immediately swept off her feet by the handsome young man waiting for her in the rain with a single red rose. In August 2005 they purchased their home in Somerville where they have lived for the past decade, becoming part of a wonderful community of friends and neighbors. They were married on July 26, 2008 at the Sunset Hill House in New Hampshire, surrounded by family and friends. On November 9th 2009, they were blessed with the arrival of their beautiful boy William Grey. And on March 13th 2013, they welcomed Emily Louisa into their family. Phil loved his wife and children more than anything in the world.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service in St. Theresa's Church, 63 Winter St. (Rte. 62), North Reading on Monday, Dec. 29 at 10:30am. Interment Riverside Cemetery, North Reading. At the request of the family there are no calling hours.
