Philip Bordgia McNulty, of Reading, formerly of Roslindale, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. He was 86 years of age.
Philip was the beloved husband of the late Eileen (Peters) Balestrier - McNulty. He was the devoted stepfather of Brenda Bertelsen and her husband Mark of South Carolina, Vincent Balestrier and his wife Debra of Florida, Alan Balestrier and his wife Donna, Karl Balestrier, Lori Balestrier, all of Tewksbury. Philip was the cherished step grandfather of 11 and loving step great grandfather of 12. He was the dear brother of the late Winifred O'Rourke, Margaret Copp, Virginia Jordan, Mary Doherty, Vincent McNulty, Andrew McNulty, Paul McNulty. Philip was the loving son of the late Francis McNulty and Sarah (McNeil) McNulty. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Philip was a member of The VFW Post 685 Reading, The American Legion Post 62 Reading and The Elks Lodge 1276 Wakefield. During World War II, Philip proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Navy.
A Funeral Service Celebrating Philip's Eternal Life will be held on Thursday at 11am in the Chapel of the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Wednesday from 6-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading.
