Richard L. Newman

Richard L. Newman of Stoneham passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025. He was 84 years of age.

Born on Wednesday, April 23, 1941 in Cambridge, Richard was the loving son of the late Richard Newman and Helen (DeMarco) Newman. Richard was a warm, kind, gentle & caring son, brother, father, grandfather and friend who will be truly missed.

Richard had a love for cars, good dining and watching his grandaughter play basketball.  He enjoyed spending time with both his children, grandchildren, family and friends.  Richard was very creative, smart and funny.  A gifted musician, Richard loved music and could play most instruments by ear.  He enjoyed time spent with his partner Carol Vannelli, who adored him.  During the Vietnam War, Richard proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Army.

Richard was the beloved & devoted father of Maria Hurley, April Newman and the late Richard Newman. The cherished grandfather of Zachary Monaco & Angelica Hurley, he was dear brother of Rosemary Hodgson and her late husband Donald. Richard is also lovingly survived by many cousins and friends.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Richard's Family on Saturday, September 20th from 10am-1pm in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28) STONEHAM. A Funeral Service Celebrating Richard's Eternal Life will be held at 1pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
