Rita Howe Newitt of Stoneham passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 with her family by her side. She was 91 years of age.
Born on April 25, 1930 in Randolph, Rita was the loving daughter of the late Thomas Carroll and Marguerite (Ashe) Carroll. Rita was a warm, kind and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Rita was a life-long resident of Stoneham who took immense pride in her community. She was a devout catholic and a member of both the St. Patrick's and St. Joseph's congregation. Rita was a spitfire who was the life of the party and she made friends wherever she went. Her energy and zest for life was contagious.
Rita was the beloved wife of Caryl Newitt. She was the devoted mother of Philip Howe and his wife Carol, Michael Howe and his late wife Kathy, Kenneth Howe and his wife Rhonda, Thomas Howe and his wife Carol-Ann, Patricia Joyner and the late Kathleen M. Howe. The cherished grandmother of Philip, Pamela, Kevin, Suzy, Tim, Jennifer, Paul, Alyson, Michael, David, Derek, Nicole, Danielle, Dakota, Drake and the late David. Rita was the doting great grandmother of 14 great grandchildren. She was the dear sister of William Carroll and the late Thomas Carroll, the late Joseph Carroll, the late Paul Carroll and the late Mary Breen. Rita was also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Visiting Hours will be held at Barile Family Funeral home on August 16, 2021 from 4:00pm-8:00pm. A Funeral Mass Celebrating Rita's Eternal Life will be held on Tuesday, August 17th at 10am in St. Patrick Parish, Stoneham, followed by Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
