Rita (Burns) Saunders of Stoneham passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. She was 89 years of age.
Born in Stoneham, Rita was the daughter of the late Lawrence Burns and Katherine (Conway) Burns. Rita was a lifelong resident of Stoneham. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all. She had a love for her family that was unparallel; they were first and foremost in her life.
Rita was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Saunders. She was the devoted mother of Leonard Saunders Jr. and his wife Deborah of NH, Richard Saunders and his wife Mary of TN, Gayle Driscoll and her late husband Michael of Barnstable, Kevin Saunders and his wife Katherine of Stoneham. Rita was the Cherished grandmother of 11, great grandmother of 21 and great great grandmother of 1. She was the dear sister of Dorothy A. Fitzler, Richard R. Burns and his wife Virginia of Lynnfield and the late William F. and Russell Burns.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Saturday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Rita's life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Friday from 3-7pm. Parking attendants will be available. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
