Rita C. Skerry

Rita C. Skerry, 81, beloved wife of the late Walter J. Skerry. Devoted mother of Maureen Beaton and her husband Joseph of Stoneham, Michael Skerry of Boston, Marybeth Haake and her husband Michael of TX, and Mark Skerry and his wife Amy of VT. Cherished grandmother of Michael P., Melissa, Katherine, Michael J., Alison, Emily, and Alex. Loving sister of Mary Donovan and her late husband Richard of Arlington. Special Aunt of Janice Hoss of CA. Rita died Sunday, August 31, 2008 surrounded by her loving family.



Rita was born in Medford, MA but lived in Stoneham for more than 50 years. During her life, she exemplified love, kindness, caring, and generosity, as well as an incredible strength and courage to all who knew her. She was sustained and guided in her walk in life by her Lord Jesus Christ. She unselfishly gave of herself to so many. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who have been touched by her gentle kindness. Her influence on us will not fade. We will strive to love as she loved. She has encouraged us to be better people by her example. In the coming days there will be many moments when we will feel lost without her. We believe though, that she is truly at home now. Her deep faith in our Heavenly Father comforts us all.



Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Thursday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Rita's life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Wednesday from 4-8pm. Parking attendants will be available. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.
