Robert B. Barry

March 19, 1932 — July 12, 2005

Robert B. Barry of Woburn, formerly of Stoneham passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Wingate Nursing Home in Reading. He was 73 years of age.





Born in Medford, Robert was the beloved son of the late Joseph M. Barry and Myrtle (Mills) Barry. Robert was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all.





Robert was a dedicated lineman for New England Telephone and Telegraph for many years. He belonged to the VFW Post 2578 in Somerville. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Robert enjoyed woodworking. He was a devoted volunteer at the Stoneham Zoo and an usher at St. Joseph's Church in Woburn. While at Wingate Nursing Home, Robert was a patient advocate. During the Korean Conflict, Robert proudly served our country in the United States Navy.





Robert was the beloved husband of Madelyn (Hollis) Barry. He was the devoted father of Robert J. Barry of Stoneham, Nancy E. Gahan and her husband Philip of Ashburnham, Karen M. Hathaway and her husband Gary of Lynnfield, Thomas W. Barry and his wife Erin of Stoneham and the late Joseph R. Barry. Robert was the cherished grandfather of 15 and the dear brother of Joseph M. Barry of Hull and Florida, and the late John H. Barry and Maryann Lyons.





Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Friday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Robert's life in St. Joseph's Church 100 Washington St. Woburn at 9am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours Thursday 4-8pm. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
