Robert E. "Bobby" "Obie" O'Brien

Robert Edward O’Brien (Obie), a lifelong resident of Reading, passed away on Sunday May 4th, 2025. He was 66 years of age.

Born on May 10, 1958, Bob is the loving son of the late Bob and Mary O’Brien. Bob was a loving brother, uncle, godfather and friend who will be deeply missed.

He was a devoted Boston sports fan, and a dedicated Little League and Pony League coach for many years. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, attending their sporting events, dance recitals and school functions.

Bob is the brother of Maureen Brooks and her husband Jim, Marge DeFerrari and her husband Steve, Bill O’Brien and his partner Donna Bruce, Eileen Mack and her partner Doug Adams, and John O’Brien. Uncle to Bill DeFerrari and his wife Jen, Ashley Osorio and her husband Ivan, Brittany Bryant and her husband Bobby, Cait Grayson and her husband Kevin, Johnathan O’Brien and his wife Kimberly, Amanda O’Brien, Casey Mack, Jillian Brooks, James Mack, and John O’Brien. Bob was also survived by many grand nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Visiting hours will be held at Doherty Barile Funeral Home 11 Linden St. Reading, MA 01867 on Wednesday, May 14th from 4-7 pm. Parking attendants and elevator are available.

A Funeral Mass Celebrating Bob’s Eternal Life will be held on Thursday, May 15th at 10:30am in Saint. Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St. Reading, MA 01867.
