Robert J. Doucette of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Reading passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. He was 86 years of age.
Born on September 5, 1930, Robert was the loving son of the late Jeremiah and Florence Doucette. Robert was a warm and caring son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Robert was a lifelong resident of Reading, graduating from Reading Memorial High School. A devout Catholic, Robert was a very active member of the Catholic Church, both in Reading and Florida. He was a member of the Reading Knights of Columbus, Post #1031. A self-employed mason, Robert helped build several homes in the local area. Family was most important in Robert's life. His family meant the world to him. Robert had a love of gardening, camping in New Hampshire, bowling and dancing. During the Korean War, Robert proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Army.
Robert was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Scruggs) Doucette and the late Joan (Cushing) Doucette. He was the devoted father of Robert Doucette, Jr., Jeffrey Doucette and his wife Maureen, Lynne Fish and her husband Steven and Kristin Doucette and her husband Frank. The cherished grandfather of 11, Robert was the doting great grandfather of 12. He was also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service Celebrating Robert's Life will be held on Friday, April 28th at 11:30am at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
