Robert J. Murphy of Stoneham passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Melrose Wakefield Hospital. He was 64 years of age.
Born in Somerville, Robert was a longtime resident of Stoneham. He was a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all.
Robert was a dedicated inspector for the MBTA for many years. He was a member of the Local Carpenter's Union. He belonged to the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers Union Local # 105. Robert was a local member of the Redman's Club, the Marconi Club and the American Legion Post #115. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening.
Robert was the beloved husband of Diana (Del Buono) Murphy. He was the devoted father of Robert, Rene, Rhonda, Derek and Diana. Robert was the cherished grandfather of 8 and the dear brother of Jenny Avery of Maine and the late John and Arthur Walkama. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Friday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Robert's life in St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 9am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Thursday 4-8pm. Parking attendants will be on duty. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
