Robert A. Nickerson

Robert A. Nickerson of Reading passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at his home. He was 94 years of age.

Born on October 14, 1919 in Reading, Robert was the loving son of the late Francis Nickerson and Marjorie (Gray) Nickerson. Robert was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Robert was a member of the Greatest Generation holding the values of Duty to Country, Honor and Family. He was a Retired US Navy Veteran, WW II and a Retired Highway Foreman for Reading Public Works.

Robert was the beloved husband of the late Frances M. (Hurdy) Nickerson. He was the devoted father of Kathleen P. Buckner and her husband Ronald, Kathleen F. Wingate and the late Robert A. Nickerson, Charles F. Nickerson and John R. Nickerson. Robert was the loving father in law of Diane Nickerson and Terri Nickerson. The cherished grandfather of 6 and great grandfather of 5, he was the dear brother of Allen Nickerson and his wife Barbara and the late Francis Nickerson, Charles Nickerson, Ralph Nickerson and Peggy Scott. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 4-8pm in the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING. Parking attendants and handicapped entrance are available. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Forest Glen Cemetery, on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 10am.
