Robert C. Pacy

Robert C. Pacy, 85, of Stoneham, Massachusetts, died at home surrounded by his family. He courageously confronted cancer for the past several years. He was born to parents Crimens and Frances (Rivetts) Pacy on November 7, 1933 in Littleton, Massachusetts.

He grew up in a large family of seven children on a farm in Littleton, where he learned the value of hard work. For all his adult life, he lived in Stoneham where he owned a taxi company since 1972 and was a well-respected businessman. He owned Town Taxi in Stoneham, Bob's Taxi in Winchester, and Wakefield Taxi in Wakefield.

He leaves his wife, Jordalee Pacy "Clover". He leaves his children Alexia, Alexander, William Pacy, and stepson, Nicholas Napier. In addition, he leaves his children from his first marriage: Laurel Callahan, Cynthia Blampye, Robert C. Pacy Jr, and Bruce Pacy. In all he leaves eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings Marjorie Trebendis, Anna Boccio, Ronald Pacy, Carol Anne Reilly, and John Pacy. His sister Mary Emily Johnston died in 1962. He leaves many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and extended family.

Bob was well-know in his community for his caring, generosity, and helpfulness. Along with the usual service his cab company provided residents of the area, he reached out to people in need and gave them special care, whether it was a ride to hospital for an appointment or to an ice cream stand for a shut in. Very often he charged them nothing or just a token amount. He kept his eye on people who needed more than just a ride to somewhere. He looked after people whether it was his children, family, friends or strangers. He was one of a kind or maybe the last of his breed. He helped many people. His cheerful and charming demeanor was a welcome sight for most people. He made sure kids he drove to school had their lunch money. Parents were assured that their kids were in good hands. He treated them all like they were his own. It is little wonder that he was known as "Pappy" by so many kids in the area. Many adults still remember "Pappy." But he loved his own kids most of all. His family came first to him.

Bob worked most of the time, often seven days a week, even when he was sick. Yet he had his enjoyments and hobbies. He was a collector. He collected coins, clocks, curios of all kinds. He loved auctions and he loved dog racing. He loved to drive, especially through the countryside in search of some restaurant he heard about. He was an eternal optimist. He loved life.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St., Stoneham on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 9am, followed by a funeral mass celebrating Robert's Eternal Life at St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10am.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with his family at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 19th, 2019 from 4 to 8pm. Parking attendants and elevator are available.
