June 26, 1945 – November 27, 2023
Robert L. Phelan, beloved husband of Cecilia (McQueston) Phelan, passed away on Monday, November 27th, 2023, with his loving wife and family at his side. Born in Plymouth, he is the loving son of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Kriegal) Phelan.
Known to everyone as Bob, he grew up in East Bridgewater and was a graduate of East Bridgewater High School. He then attended and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Bridgewater State University. Bob married his wife Cecilia and settled in Wakefield. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September. Bob enjoyed good music, golfing and sports. He was a dedicated Celtics Fan. Bob's fandom began early and stayed until the end. He knew the game and players well. Bob's greatest joy came from begin with his loving wife and family.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Cecilia, he is the beloved brother of the late Thomas Phelan and his wife Carol. Loving uncle of Mark Phelan and his wife Becky, Rachel Bartolomeo and her husband Philip, Brian Callahan of Swampscott, Daniel Callahan and his wife Jessica of West Chester, PA. Cherished brother -in-law of Mary Ann McQueston of Reading and Donna Callahan and her husband William of West Chester, PA, and he also leaves many great nieces and great nephews and dear friends.
Funeral will be held from the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading on Monday, December 4th, 2023 at 9am, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10am. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Family and friends are cordially invited to visiting hours at the funeral home, on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023 from 2pm to 6pm.
