Robert A Powers Jr., 59 of North Providence, RI, formerly of Stoneham, MA, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2019 after a sudden diagnosis of brain cancer.
He was the beloved husband of Laurie A. (Terenzi) Powers for over 27 years. Born in Woburn, MA, he was the son of the late Robert A. Powers, Sr. and Maryann (Dango) Powers. He was the cherished brother to Raymond Powers, MaryEllen Powers, Timothy Powers and his wife Melissa (Christofi) Powers, and Jane Sorabella and her husband Stephen Sorabella, son-in-law to Angela Terenzi, brother-in-law to Michael and Leslie (Terenzi) Brugnoli; and uncle to 14 wonderful nieces and nephews.
Robert was a 1978 graduate of Stoneham High School, where he was a three-sport all star athlete and honor student. In 2016 he was inducted into the Stoneham High School Athletic Hall of Fame. After high school he attended Westfield State University and Salem State University. He worked at the Robert Allen Duralee Group, now TRAD Holdings, for 35 years, holding the position of Sr. Manager, IT Operations & Services. He was dedicated, selfless and self-motivated. He took pride in what he did and could always be counted on by his colleagues. His passions included spending time in Narragansett, sports, his dogs and above all, family, especially his many nieces and nephews on both sides.
Funeral will be held from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28) Stoneham on Saturday, January 4 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Robert's Eternal Life in St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham at 10am. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Winchester. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on January 3rd from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator available.
