Robert J. Zappy of Maine, formerly of Reading passed on Monday, February 23, 2009 at his home. He was 65 years of age.
Born in Lynn, Robert was the son of the late William J. Zappy and Marjorie A. (Pothier) Zappy. Robert was a warm and caring son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be sorely missed.
Robert was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School where he excelled in sports, especially hockey. He was the Captain of his team. After High School, Robert attended NYU and moved to California to pursue a career in acting. During The Vietnam War, Robert proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Navy Seal Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor for his accomplishments.
Robert was the loving brother of Maryjane Judge and her husband Robert of Reading, Paula Flaherty and her husband Robert of Winthrop and step-brother of Marguerite Fayles and her husband Ronald of Virginia, John Markee and his wife Bonnie of Lynn. He was the dear uncle of Kristen Flaherty of Winthrop and Lindsay Judge of Reading. Robert was the dear friend of Billy Belcamino. He was also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Funeral Service celebrating Robert's life will be held on Friday at 11am in the Chapel of the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Thursday from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
