Rocco Nocera of Wakefield passed away on Sunday January 24, 2021. He was 93 years of age.
Rocco is the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria Grazia (Longo) Nocera. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Cecilia (Cicciu) Nocera and his son Giuseppe (Joe) Nocera and his wife Michele of Malden. Rocco is the loving grandfather to Angelica Josephine Nocera. He is reunited with his beloved daughter, the late Maria Grazia Nocera.
Rocco is the dear brother to Caterina Orlando, Salvatore Nocera, the late Teresa Pedulla, the late Cosimo Nocera, the late Grazia Nocera, and the late Antonio Nocera.
He left his hometown of Portigliola, Italy at 17 and moved to Milan, Italy to start his career of being a tailor. He emigrated to the US at 27 and worked in various cities in the northeast before finally settling in Wakefield. Along the way, he returned to Italy where he met and married his wife within a span of less than two months.
Rocco owned Stoneham Tailor Shop and had proudly served the local community for over 30 years. He retired at age 91 due to miscellaneous health issues.
Due to Coronavirus restrictions, funeral services are private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at the Rocco Nocera Memorial Fund.
