Roger J. D'Entremont

Roger Joseph D’Entremont, of Reading, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 4, 2026. He was 94 years of age.

Roger is the oldest child of Roger Elzia d’Entremont of Pubnico, Nova Scotia who arbitrarily capitalized the d when he came to America in 1926 and Leone Grace Doucette of 17 Warren Avenue in Reading, Mass.

Roger graduated from Reading High School in June of 1950 and joined the USAF in October of that year. He spent two years as a B-25 mechanic at HQ 8th AF in Ft. Worth, TX and worked for two years at GE River Works in Lynn as a jet engine development tester, primarily on the J47 engine.

Roger joined the Aviation Cadet program and advanced to cadet major, executive officer and second in command of class 57F at Bryan AFB in College Station, TX. He got checked out in the F-86D and flew it for two years at Hahn AFB, Germany as a member of the 496th Fighter Squadron. Roger proudly told them that he had helped build the engine powering the F-86D. He later flew the F-102 for another two years at Hahn. He has 400 combat air patrols along the then East German border. Upon returning to the United States, he flew the amazing F-106 for three years at Loring AFB in northern Maine, as part of the 27th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. He then left the USAF and joined TWA where he worked for 28 years. He has flown the Lockheed Constellation, Boeing 707, 727, 747, and the L-1011, where he became an instructor pilot.

Roger has prayed at the wailing wall in Jerusalem, flown the checkerboard approach into Hong Kong, and flown inside the aurora borealis [30,000 feet near Hudson Bay, Labrador]. He has flown around the world 25 times, and over the Atlantic 1,000 times, been high enough to view the curvature of the earth and the beginning of the blue, black and orange of outer space and fast enough to see the wing leading edge turn crimson in his F-106 at 40,00 feet.

He would often comment that "The smartest thing I ever did was marry Noreen Leonard of Stoneham" and that his greatest accomplishment was to father seven wonderful children, who have always been his pure pleasure and joy.

Roger is the beloved husband of 69 years to Noreen D’Entremont. He is the cherished father of Anne D’Entremont, Keith D’Entremont and his wife Luanne, Steve D’Entremont and his wife Cathy, Joan Walsh and her husband Jay, Mike D’Entremont and Brenda Jeknavorian, Jim D’Entremont and his wife Lisa and Sue Japher and her husband Manu. Roger is the loving grandfather to fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Dear brother of Mary Bellerose, and the late Robert D'Entremont,(USMC), Lois Tisdale, and Paul G. D'Entremont, (USMC combat medic in Vietnam). He is the brother in law of Elizabeth D'Entremont and Patricia Hoyt. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
