Roger M. Hickey of Reading, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at his home in Reading. He was 78 years of age.
Born in Boston, he was the loving son of the late Lillian (Lowery) Hickey and A. Roger Hickey. Roger was a warm and loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be sadly missed.
Roger was a dedicated designer for the United States Government for several years. A proud United States Air Force Veteran, Roger valiantly defended our freedom by serving as an A/1c E-4.
Roger was the beloved husband of Barbara (Kelly) Hickey. He was the devoted father of Kelly-Ann Murray and her husband Scott of Burlington, Karen Lacourciere and her husband Gerard of Boyds, MD, Roger Hickey, Jr. and his wife Corinne Vercillo of Arlington, Michael Hickey and his wife Laurie of Medford and Barbara Machaiek and her husband Alex of Haverhill. Roger was the cherished grandfather of Shannon, Meghan, Jillian, Alex, Mathieu, Ryan, Molly, Ben, Jack, Madelyn and Nicholas. He was the loving nephew of Lera McLaughlin and is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St., STONEHAM Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Roger's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm in the Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors Wood End Cemetery, Reading.
