Roger H. Muir, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 2, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 82 years old.
Born in Webster MA, Roger was the loving son of the late Henry Muir and Marjorie (Peile) Muir.
Roger proudly defended our Country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. For his efforts, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and was also a Chosin Reservoir.
Roger had a passion for volunteering. He was a volunteer at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in the Oncology department for over 17 years. He was also the Outstanding Ambassador for Beth Israel for volunteering. In addition to the hospital, he enjoyed being a driver for the Stoneham Senior Center and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick's Church in Stoneham for many years.
Roger was the beloved husband of Mary G. (McDermott) Muir. He was the devoted father of Roger Muir and his wife Laura, Marcia Muir, Mark Muir and David Muir and his wife Terri. He was the cherished grandfather of 15, great grandfather of 2 and the loving brother of Henry Muir.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Wednesday , November 6, 2013 at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Roger's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10am.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 3-7 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and handicap elevator are available.
