Ronald R. Fiore of Stoneham, June 3, 2019 at age 71. Beloved husband of Christine (Mullaney) Fiore, with whom he shared over 47 years of marriage. Devoted father of Arlene Field and her husband Brendan, Tricia Allwardt and her husband Jeff, Laura La Francesca and her husband Vito, and Karen Guillaume and her husband Jeff. Cherished grandfather of Clarissa, Serena, Josephine, Cole, Elsa, Viola, Maria, Luca, and Adriana. Dear brother of Janet Gearin and her husband Richard, Daniel Fiore and his wife Kathleen, and brother-in-law of Leland Mullaney. Son of the late Ralph and Gertrude (Babin) Fiore. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ron was the quintessential family man with a ready smile and a great sense of humor.
A graduate of Winchester High School, Ron went on to study at Northeastern where he earned his B.S. and M.S. in engineering. He worked as a structural engineer for the Coast Guard and for Metcalf & Eddy (now AECOM), where he spent most of his career until he retired in 2015. A Stoneham resident for over 40 years, he was active in the community as coach of several soccer, basketball, and softball teams, registrar of Stoneham Soccer Club, president of the Friends of the Library, and as a member of the school building committee for all four Stoneham elementary schools. He designed materials for children's liturgy and served as a eucharistic minister at St. Patrick for many years.
Ron fought a long, courageous battle with leukemia. He inspired everyone who knew him with his optimism, resilience, and dignity. Ron was incredibly grateful to the MGH staff on Lunder 10, his home away from home for the last eight months, and to his anonymous bone marrow donor who gave him the chance to extend his fight.
