Ronald F. Krasovec of Reading, formerly of Burlington, passed away peacefully in hospice care on Monday, August 4, 2025 at age 88. For 62 years, Ron was the beloved husband of Helen (Goldberg) Krasovec, originally of Brookline.

Ron was born and raised in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He was the son of Frank and Leona (Sturman) Krasovec. An excellent student, Ron had dreams of serving his country and becoming a military pilot. During his high school years, Ron completed summer training in the Civil Air Patrol, an auxiliary of the United States Air Force. His senior year he was proud to serve in the Army National Guard of Wyoming. With dreams still set to serve his country, instead of accepting a four year scholarship to the University of Wyoming, Ron enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for a four year tour of duty. When it was discovered that Ron was slightly near-sighted in one eye and was not able to pursue pilot training, he took advantage of an opportunity to train as an aviation radio technician at the Communication Electronics School in San Diego, CA. Ron also spent fifteen months in Japan during his four years of enlistment.

After his service in the Marine Corps, Ron returned home to Rock Springs and worked at the local radio station. A good friend in the Marine Corps had encouraged Ron to apply to MIT in Cambridge, MA to continue his education. Ron decided to make the long car trip across country to take entrance exams and interview for admission. He was accepted at MIT with a full four year scholarship. Ron met the love of his life, Helen, during his sophomore year at MIT and her junior year at Boston University. They were married in December of 1962 with a very short honeymoon in New York City between semesters. After Ron graduated from MIT in June of 1962 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he was offered a position at Stanford University's new Linear Accelerator and the opportunity to earn a Master's Degree. That three week trip to CA with Helen was a second honeymoon with the opportunity to travel leisurely and enjoy the beauty of the country.

After three years in California, where their first son, Scott, was born, and after Ron had graduated from Stanford, they returned to Massachusetts shortly before their second son, Jeff, was born. They eventually bought a house in Burlington, MA where they lived for over 40 years. Ron worked as a systems and reliability engineer including several years on the Central Artery Tunnel (Big Dig) project until he retired. Ron's dream to be a pilot was replaced with a love of the ocean and sailing. He joined the Minute Man Power Squadron, took courses, and eventually became an instructor. He was a recipient of the Arlene Hunt Memorial Award for outstanding educational performance or service.

A quiet and unassuming man, Ron never boasted about all his accomplishments in life. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a loyal friend. He enjoyed summer family vacations in Bar Harbor Maine and then fall vacations with Helen when their children were grown. He enjoyed getting together with former work friends for lunch and his weekly brunch or dinner date with his beloved wife. It was a shared personal time that began shortly after they met. He loved attending his grandsons' athletic and school events and spending holidays with his extended family. He will be greatly missed.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Helen of Reading, dear sister-in-law Nina Goldberg, cherished sons and their wives, Scott and Patricia of Haverhill, Jeff and Tina of Danvers, grandsons; Jack, Will, Ben and his fiancee, Julia LeMark, Nick, and Jacob.

A private family celebration of Ron's life will be held at a future date.
