Rose M. (Alpedo) Cleveland of Stoneham passed away on November 19, 2010 at the Winchester Hospital. Born in Woburn, she moved to Stoneham in 1940. She is the wife of the late Chester S. Cleveland. Cherished mother of Skip and Debi Cleveland, their spouses Susan Cleveland and Bill Herook. Beloved Nana of Jamie-Rose and Jonathan Herook of Stoneham, Joseph, Clay, and Derek Cleveland of Boxford. She leaves behind her dog Charlee, her sister Lenora who resides in Florida, nieces Sally Ann Thomas and Lou Ellen Fligg, and nephew Edward Butler, along with dear friend Denise Keegan.
Rose worked at the Marilyn Sander Shoe Factory as a floor supervisor for many years. The Stop & Shop Companies also employed her for twenty years. She was one of the original Town of Stoneham Traffic Directors sworn into position in 1969. Her post was at the corner of Elm and Central Streets. She held this spot until October of 2004. "Rosie" served this position with the greatest of pride. Each morning and afternoon she would cross the children safely with the love of an Angel. When she retired, she was awarded many citations for her 35 years of service from the town and state of Massachusetts. Of all the great things she did in her life, there was nothing more important to her than her family and her dogs.
A Funeral Service celebrating Rose's life will be held on Wednesday at 11am in the Chapel of the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Tuesday from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available.
