Rudolph Minghella; A Stoneham Icon
Rudolph A. (Rudy) Minghella passed away peacefully on Sunday March 10th. Rudy was surrounded by his four children David, Glenn, Rhonda and Darin. Rudy was born in Stoneham in 1932 and with the exception of his four year stint in the U.S. Navy Rudy spent his entire life living in Stoneham.
Rudy has been a pillar of the Stoneham community for decades. Rudy spent years contributing his time and working with children in youth hockey and football around town. As well, Rudy was an accomplished chef where he spent years cooking family style dinners for his family and friends and at both the Marconi Club and Elks Lodge and once made and cooked 1047 meatballs for a spaghetti dinner at Colonial Park School.
You could always find Rudy at Felicia's or Gaetano's, sitting at the bar and enjoying an ice cold beer or a fine chianti while holding court and to this day Rudy's picture hangs on the wall at Felicia's.
Rudy was an entrepreneur who owned his own carpet business for years. His motto was "come as a customer, leave as a friend." And friends he had. Anyone who has lived in Stoneham any length of time knew and loved Rudy.
After 82 years of life Rudy decided to leave this world and move on to the next. Rudy was a Stoneham icon and if you want to share stories of Rudy and his friends all one needs to do is go by Felicia's pull up a chair to the bar and mention his name ... and the stories will flow.
Rudy was the beloved father of David Minghella, Darin Minghella and his wife Michelle, Glen Minghella, Rhonda Peters and her husband Jim. He was the loving grandfather of Lindsey and Max Peters, Shawna Varacalli and her husband Vinnie, Kayla, Carlie and Mason Minghella. Rudy was the cherished great grandfather of Isabella, Antonia, and Sophia. He was the dear brother of John Minghella and his wife Mary, Frank Minghella and his wife Dorothy, MaryAnn Maffeo and her husband Anthony, Richard Minghella and his wife Carol and the late Angelina Burns and her late husband Joseph, Domenic Minghella and his late wife Louise, Victor Minghella and his late wife Charlotte, Florinda McLaughlin and her late husband Raymond, Eunice Alteriso and her surviving husband George. Rudy was the loving son of the late Vittorio and Mary (Scearbo) Minghella. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
