Ruth G. McKenna of Stoneham, passed away on January 2, 2016 at age 78. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
Originally from Albany, New York she was a graduate of the College of Saint Rose and later worked as an advertising copy manager for the former Lechmere Sales. Ruth raised her children in Melrose before moving to Stoneham. Once retired she enjoyed shopping and making custom jewelry. Ruth was especially fond of the color blue and had quite the collection of blue willow china.
Ruth was the mother of Maureen Miller and her husband Barry, John McKenna and his wife Melissa and Kathleen Murphy and her husband Kevin. She is the cherished grandmother of nine. Ruth is the loving daughter of the William A. and Ruth (Gordon) Glavin. She is the dear sister of Sister Mary Glavin, SNJM, William A. Glavin and his wife Judy, Robert G. Glavin, Marcia Zekoll and the late Agnes Parker and her surviving husband Stephen. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass Celebrating Ruth's Eternal Life in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham, at 10am on Friday, January 8th, 2016.
It was Ruth's wish that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the scholarship fund established for her grandson Max. Please consider making a donation in Ruth's memory to the Maxwell Miller Visual Arts Scholarship at NHTI, 31 College Drive, Concord, NH 03301.
