With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ryan Thomas Stevens, a cherished son, brother, cousin, grandson, nephew, and friend, who tragically left us on November 24th at the young age of 19. Ryan was a vibrant, genuine, sensitive, and kind-hearted young man who brought joy to all who knew him.
Ryan was born on September 12th, 2005. He spent his early years in Haverhill, Massachusetts, before moving with his family to Venice, Florida. A cherished son of Ellen and Michael Stevens and a loving brother to Danny Stevens, Ryan brought joy and warmth to his family and friends. He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Casey, who was a constant source of love and companionship. Ryan had a unique ability to make others feel loved, appreciated, and valued.
Ryan graduated with honors from Venice High School in May. Ryan was a smart, determined, and passionate learner from a very young age. A voracious reader who was constantly planning for his future, Ryan was due to receive an Associate’s Degree from Tallahassee State College this December and was matriculating to Florida State University in January as a Junior. All his dreams and hard work were beginning to come to fruition.
Ryan was predeceased by his grandparents, Thomas and Nancy Stevens, and his great-grandparents, Madeline and Rene Boucher. He is survived by his devoted maternal grandparents, Harold and Suzann Tinney; his aunts and uncles, Mark and Lisa Stevens, Diana and Walter McMahon, Elizabeth and James O’Grady, Eric and Kerri Tinney, Andrea Tinney, Matthew Tinney and Jamie Martin; and his cousins, Zachary, Joshua, and Nicholas Stevens; Ayla McMahon; Noah, Mason, and Madeline O’Grady; and Liam, Logan, and Lucas Tinney. Ryan was deeply loved by his extended family and all who met him.
Ryan learned early on to cherish the small moments in life. He was an old soul who appreciated the simplest of conversations with people that he loved. Whether spending time with his family, sharing laughs with his friends, or simply enjoying the night sky, he brought light and positivity wherever he went. He valued time with family, especially at Newfound Lake, his favorite place in the world. Summers went from endless tubing, jumping off the trampoline and campfires, to playing poker with his cousins and uncles. He looked forward to this precious time every year.
Ryan will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, and deep love for anything sports related. He was an avid fan of Syracuse basketball, Clemson football, the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, and Arsenal Football team (a newer love). Anyone who knew him, knew of his love for fantasy sports, all things statistical, and he loved to give his opinion on all of it whether you wanted it or not. He was known for his endless spreadsheets, his knowledge of all players, and his advice for friends and family who wanted to make a dollar or two.
Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with his family on Wednesday December 4, 2024 in the Doherty Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. Reading from 4 pm to 7 pm. Parking attendants and elevator available.
