Sabato Ianniciello

Sabato Ianniciello of Stoneham passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. He is 90 years of age.

Born on Sunday, September 9, 1934 in Avellino, Italy, Sabato is the loving son of the late Eugenio Ianniciello and Maria (Bruna) Ianniciello. Sabato is a warm, kind, gentle, loyal & caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend who will be truly missed.

Sabato and his family came to America in February of 1966 seeking a better life for himself and his family, and he wanted to give his children the American dream. They moved to Somerville, MA where he worked in the Laborers Union for over 30 years and he was able to provide his family with not only a home but also a vacation home on Newfound Lake in Bristol, NH. He enjoyed going to NH with his family and spending time on the boat. He met his wife Leonilda when they were children in Italy and they lived in the same town and grew up together. They moved from Somerville, MA to Stoneham, MA in 1994 and they were married for 65 years. After they retired, their passion was cooking Sunday dinner for their family and making homemade sauce which they did by using their tomatoes from their garden every year. They were so proud of their garden and loved any opportunity to show it off and give their vegetables away to their family and friends. After working hard in the garden, they enjoyed spending time on the deck. In the later years after his wife passed, he got tired of living alone as things were getting more difficult for him, so he moved in with his son, Eugenio and daughter in law, Kristen. He thoroughly enjoyed his Market Basket trips with his daughter Lina who also was his personal barber and chef and got him to experience his first pedicure earlier this year. He was so excited to see his son's new projects in NH and loved taking rides up with him. He enjoyed showing his daughter in law Kristen how to make his family recipes in the kitchen. He loved watching his black and white tv shows with his granddaughter Nicollette, making St. Anthony Feast ribbons for the feast each year, and showing her how to make his Italian recipes. He looked forward to his Saturday visits with his grandson Sabato and his wife Mary. He loved when his granddaughter Christina and her husband Steve brought their children Luca & Gianna over to visit where he would give them cookies. He loved when his grandson Michael would come visit with his wife Lindsay and their daughters Olivia and Lia. He enjoyed visiting his grandson Joey's new home with his wife Brenna and sharing his stories with him. He also enjoyed spending his retirement with the puppies on the couch watching TV with Cocoa, Stabler, Buddy and Frankie and claimed that the puppies were retired as well. He loved telling his stories from his days in Italy to his family and anyone that came to visit him.

Sabato is the beloved husband of the late Leonilda (Schena) Ianniciello. He is the devoted father of Lina Terranova and Eugenio Ianniciello and his wife Kristen. The cherished grandfather of Christina Pizzi and her husband Steve, Joseph Terranova and his wife Brenna, Michael Terranova and his wife Lindsay, Nicollette Ianniciello, and Sabato Ianniciello and his wife Mary, Sabato is the doting great grandfather of Olivia, Lia, Luca and Gianna. He is the dear brother of Gerardo Ianniciello and his wife Chiarina, Generoso Ianniciello and his wife Filomena, Teresa Ciriello and her late husband Alberico and the late John Ianniciello and his wife Franca. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will dearly miss him.
