Salvatore C. DeRosa, 91, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2016, surrounded by his family. "Sam", as he was often called, was born on October 1, 1925 in White Plains, NY to the late Carlo and Josephina (Croce) DeRosa. He was the youngest of seven children. Sam lived most of his younger years in Italy, where he studied medicine and met and married Flora Ciardiello.  Sam and Flora had five children, raising their family first in Saugus and then in North Reading, MA, before retiring to Southern NH.

Sam loved his family and grandchildren, and was a wonderful provider. He was employed by First National Stores and retired from Market Basket/Demoulas in NH.  An avid Red Sox fan, Sam also loved history and politics; crossword puzzles and Jeopardy.

Sam is survived by his wife of 66 years; daughter, Vivian Sarlo of Milford, NH; daughter, Sandra DeRosa of Merrimack, NH; son, Anthony DeRosa, and his wife Cheryl, of Lynn, MA; grandchildren, Vanessa Talasazan, and her husband, Michael; Michael Sarlo; Amy and Rebecca DeRosa; and one great-grandchild, Lydia Talasazan. He is predeceased by two of his children, Janet DeRosa and Dolores (DeRosa) Otting.

Funeral services will be held at St. Theresa's Church in North Reading, MA on December 27, 2016 at 11am. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, North Reading, MA.
