Salvatore J. DiPinto

Salvatore J. DiPinto, Sr of Reading, formerly of Somerville and Medford passed away on January 19, 2015, at his home. He was 88 years of age.

Born on Christmas Day in 1926 in Somerville, Salvatore was the loving son of the late Raphael and Anita (Cicerano) DiPinto. Salvatore was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Salvatore will be missed by all who knew him.

Salvatore was a life time employee of the Gillette Company located in Boston. He was a dedicated family man who loved all sports and was an active golfer. When off the links, Salvatore enjoyed trips to Mohegan Sun. Salvatore was a member of the greatest generation who defended our freedom by proudly serving in the US Navy during WWII.

Salvatore was the beloved husband of the late Madeline (Rizzo) DiPinto. He was the devoted father of Maria Behenna and her husband Robert, Salvatore J. DiPinto, Jr. and his companion Lisa and Ralph DiPinto and his companion Mary Beth Roy. Salvatore was the cherished grandfather of Christopher, Jason, Jacqueline and her partner Stacey and Erik and his wife Darlene and was the cherished great grandfather of Bianca. He was the dear brother of Lee Bettinelli and her husband Frank, Ann White and her husband Norm, Lorraine DiPinto and her husband the late Augustino, Ralph DiPinto and the late Vincent DiPinto. Dear sister-in-law of Mary Zazzara. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass Celebrating Salvatore's Eternal Life will be held on Friday, January 23 2015 at 10am in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham. Interment at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 3-8pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants and elevator are available.
