Salvatore A. Fantasia, 83, of Falmouth, MA formerly of Reading, MA passed away on May 20, 2017, surrounded by his family.  Beloved husband for 51 years of Doris (Welch), and loving father of Sandra Giaquinto and her husband, John Giaquinto of Reading, MA, Jody Downey and her husband, Joseph Downey of Windham, NH, Daniel Fantasia and his wife, Julie Fantasia of Reading, MA, and Amy Fantasia of Falmouth, MA.

Lovingly known as "Pa", Sal is survived by 8 grandchildren.  He was the son of the late Antonio and Rose Fantasia, the brother of the late Augustine Fantasia and Cosmo Fantasia, and is survived by his sister, Mary Ficaro of Revere, MA.

Sal owned and operated Fantasia Monogram Co., Inc. of Boston, Quincy and Everett, providing monograms and embroidery to greater Boston department stores for 40 years.  Sal enjoyed boating, tennis, skiing, and biking.  He played baseball in the minor leagues in GA and FL and remained an avid sportsman.   He enjoyed being with his family and friends and will be remembered for his humor, his enthusiasm and his love of life.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, May 25 from 4 to 8 P.M. at Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park Street, (corner of Park St. and Rte. 28), North Reading, at Reading line.  A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 26 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Athanasius, 300 Haverhill Street, Reading, MA followed by burial in Wood End Cemetery, Reading.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Sal's memory may be made to Dana Farber, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
