IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Salvatore V.
Picciuto
September 8, 1923 – February 28, 2022
Salvatore V. Picciuto, a first generation American and Military Veteran, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 28, 2022, at his residence in Tustin, California, surrounded by his loving family. He was 98.
He was the beloved and devoted husband of the late Lilian (Bruno) Picciuto, and the loving son of Vito and Assunta (Dota) Picciuto. Born in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts, Salvatore was a caring and dedicated sibling to Joseph, Michael, Anthony and Angelina Picciuto.
Salvatore, an Army Veteran of WWII, served as an Assistant Chaplain in the Army of the United States stationed in Salinas, Kansas. He attended Michael Angelo High School and worked as a serviceman for Admiral Corporation, fixing appliances from Nantucket to Lowell, and a security guard for Raytheon Technologies.
From the time he was a small child, Salvatore had an affinity and passion for basketball, winning several C.Y.O. (Catholic Youth Organization) championships. He was a sharp passer who was known for his vision of the court and stellar one-handed shot. Over the years, Salvatore was blessed by the many bonds and friendships he deepened while vacationing with his "crowd" from the North End and greater Boston area.
Salvatore Picciuto was a kind, loyal, faithful and loving family man who chose a lifetime of service to others. He is survived by his beloved children, Susan, Ann and John, and their respective spouses, Bob Quintiliani, Rick Gehrke and Sally Jefferson, as well as his grandchildren, David, Robert, Kayla, Nico, Megan and Jason, great-grandchildren, Enso, Carmela and Vito, and his many nieces and nephews. He will forever be missed, always loved, and his spirit will inspire others to walk with a smile as we continue our own journey toward the choir invisible.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass in Salvatore's memory at St. Theresa's Church, 63 Winter St., North Reading, on Saturday, March 19th, 2022, at 10:30a.m. Internment with military honors will follow at Charles Lawn Memorial Park in Reading, and a reception and celebration will be held in the North End at Fiore Restaurant, 250 Hanover St., from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Sal's memory to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) or a charity of your choice.
