Sandra "Sandy" (Buckley) Rourke

Sandra Jean Rourke of Stoneham passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. 

Sandy was born on March 13, 1956, and was the beloved daughter of the late Timothy and Barbara Buckley of Malden. 

Sandy was the cherished wife and partner of David Rourke. They shared a loving marriage for 38 years, and built a beautiful life and family together.  She was the proud and loving mother of Kelly Gannon and her husband William, Amanda Rourke, and Michael Rourke and his wife Shauna.  She was also a devoted and loving Nana to Jack and Lilly Gannon and Tatum Rourke. Sandy was the dear sister of Maureen Holland and her husband Jim,  Steven Buckley and his wife Monica, Patricia Buckley, Timothy Buckley and his wife Cathy, and Thomas Buckley and his wife Julie.  She was a loving Auntie to her many nieces and nephews, especially her godson Thomas E. Buckley. Sandy was a loyal and devoted friend, especially to her lifelong friends Donna McDermott and Bonnie Gillespie.

Sandy had a tremendous work ethic, working for over 25 years at TMHCC, where she formed many close friendships.  Outside of work, Sandy could always be found with her family. Whether at kids sporting events, recitals, family campouts or just hanging out in the yard, Sandy’s greatest joy was spending time with the people she loved. She will be deeply missed.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Sandy’s family on Monday, December 11th from 10am - 1pm at the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28) STONEHAM.  A brief service celebrating Sandy’s life will be held at 1pm. Parking attendants and an elevator are available.
