Saverio "Sam" Gargano

Saverio Gargano of Woburn, formerly of Stoneham and Cassino, Italy, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at his home. He was 88 years of age.

Sam is the beloved husband of Antoinette (Picano) Gargano. He is the devoted father of Thomas S. Gargano and his wife Sandra Sears, Vicki A. DeBarros and her husband Dennis, Alaine T. Gargano and the late Michael Gargano. The cherished grandfather of Matthew DeBarros and his wife Christina and Peter DeBarros, Saverio is the dear brother of Concetta DiLoreto and Maria Secondino and her husband Carlo and the late Pasquale, Rosa and Ida. He is the beloved son of the late Antonio Gargano and Michelina (Marrocco) Gargano. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Saverio (also known to his friends as Sam) enjoyed gardening, a lively game of cards, and a good glass of red wine. He retired from General Electric in 1992, and later built a retirement home in his birthplace Cassino, Italy. He enjoyed his annual visits there, reuniting with old friends and relatives.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Saturday, November 17th at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Saverio's Eternal Life in St. Mary's Church, 158 Washington St. Winchester at 9am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Friday, November 16th from 4-7pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
