Savio Mirabella

Savio Mirabella, 86, of Reading, formerly of East Boston, passed away peacefully on August 15th, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 1, 1940, in Carife, Italy, he was the son of the late Bertoldo and Maria (Manzi) Mirabella. Savio spent some time living in Switzerland before making his way to the United States.

After settling in America, he met Lina (Messina), who would become his beloved wife and lifelong companion. They married in 1975 and made their home in East Boston, where they raised their family.

Savio was a hardworking man who spent many years working as a painter at the Copley Plaza Hotel before retiring.

One of Savio’s greatest joys was his garden. He loved growing vegetables and fruit and took great pride in carefully tending to everything he planted.

Above all else, Savio cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lina (Messina) Mirabella; his daughter, Maria Mirabella; his son, Bertoldo “Barry” Mirabella of Stoneham and his wife, Deborah; and his beloved grandchildren, Brooklyn and Madison Mirabella, who proudly knew him as Nonno.

He is also survived by his sister, Rosa Mirabella and her late husband Salvatore as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Savio was the beloved brother of the late Americo Mirabella and his late wife, Angiolina Mirabella, formerly of Medford.

Savio will be remembered for his hard work, his devotion to his family, and the love he shared with those closest to him. His memory will live on in all who knew and loved him.
