Shirley A. (Sullivan) Robson, age 80, a resident of Tewksbury for 39 years, formerly of Reading, passed away at home, with her family by her side on Saturday, August 2, 2014.
She was the beloved wife of former Reading Police Detective, Herbert E. Robson, Jr., who passed away in 2000. Born in Reading on November 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Joseph S. Sullivan and the late Mary A. (Doucette) Sullivan.
Shirley was raised in Reading, attended Reading schools and graduated from Reading High School. She resided in Reading until moving to Tewksbury in 1975.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as the Motel Manager for the Beachvue Motel on Ocean Drive in Vero Beach, Florida for 15 years. Shirley previously worked as a Matron for the Reading Police Department.
Shirley was a dedicated housewife and mother, and loved to cook for and spend time with her family and friends. In addition, she enjoyed vacationing throughout New England and traveling to Germany.
Shirley is survived by three children, Steven E. Robson, David S. Robson and Renee M. Kenney all of Tewksbury; one sister, Edna Hoffman of Tewksbury; three brothers, Joseph S. Sullivan, Jr. of Swampscott, William Sullivan and his wife Sandy of Maine, and Robert Michael "Duke" Dalton of Florida; her dear friend, Diane Wronkowski of Peabody, who Shirley thought of as a daughter; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren including Johnny Kenney, of whom she had a very special relationship with and was very prominent in his upbringing; also many nieces and nephews. Shirley was the mother of the late Kevin M. Robson, formerly of Durham, ME and sister of the late Richard Doucette, formerly of Billerica, Florence Sullivan, Ann McLeod and George Dalton all formerly of Reading.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 4-8 p.m., at the Doherty-Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St., Reading. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn Street, Reading. Interment will follow at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
