Shirley Marie (Peters) Williams of Stoneham formerly of Tewksbury, age 81, passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer on July 17, 2008 surrounded by the love of her children. Daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Peters of Reading, she was the beloved wife for forty years of Alfred M. Williams who passed away in 1990. She is survived by daughters Sandra Williams Gardner of Westminster, MA, Lindas Williams Dillon and her husband John of Old Saybrook, CT, Midge Williams Smith and her husband David of Merrimack, NH, her son, Scott Joseph Williams of Concord, NH, seven grandchildren, Scott Michael Gardner and Keri Alyssa Gardner, Craig Williams Dillon and Cole Matthew Dillon, Matthew David Smith, Kara Marie Smith and Kyle Matthew Smith and her first great grandchild, Evie Susan Smith. She is also survived by a sister, Evelyn Cusato of Reading, MA. She was predeceased by her sisters, Rita Twombly and Eileen McNulty and brothers Bernard Peters and Merton Peters. She also leaves several nephews and nieces and many cherished friends. Friend of Bill W.



Shirley took great pride in her family. She enjoyed bingo and casinos.



A Funeral Service celebrating Shirley's life will be held on Monday at 11 am in the Chapel of the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden Street, READING. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Monday 10-11:45 a.m. Interment Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading,



In lieu of flowers her family requests donations be made to the Activities Department at the Hillcrest Nursing Home, 94 Summer Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Shirley's family is truly grateful for the compassionate care she received from the entire staff at Hillcrest.
