Stephen J. Bourque, 58, beloved husband of Ivy (Sloan) Bourque, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, with his wife at his side. Born in Medford, he is the son of Elizabeth (Jamieson) Bourque and the late John Harold Bourque.
Steve grew up in Stoneham and was a graduate of Northeastern Metropolitan Regional Vocational Technical High School in Wakefield. Steve was a talented woodworker and a project manager for many years at The Woodworks. He enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, cooking for his family, playing guitar and teaching the kids in the family the instrument he loved. Steve was a dedicated husband and father and a true Mr. Mom. He had a loving and kind way about him that made him a favorite among all his nieces and nephews. Steve found the good in everything and everyone and was truly an exemplary human being. His radiant blue eyes and genuine smile will forever be remembered by everyone he touched in life.
In addition to his wife, Ivy, of 27 years, he is survived by his daughter: Charnele Bridgeford and her husband Henry; brothers and sisters: Nancy Kanouff and her husband Charlie, Michael Bourque and his wife Mina, Michelle Trottier and her husband Ron, Lynda Allen and her husband Bruce and Stuart Sloan and his wife Jennifer; nieces and nephews: C.J. Kanouff and his wife Amy, Christopher Kanouff and Drew Kanouff, Serena Bourque, Jonathan Bourque, Holly Bourque, Melissa Trottier, Kevin Trottier, Samantha Wiechert and her husband Andrew and Taylor Sloan; and mother-in-law: Elise "Cookie" Sloan. He is predeceased by his father-in-law: Stanley Sloan.
Friends and family are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Steve's family at the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28), Stoneham, on Saturday, November 18th from 11am – 12:30pm. Immediately following the visitation at 12:30pm, there will be a remembrance service for Steve. Parking attendents and elevator are available.
His family warmly extends an invitation to join with them at the Montvale Plaza, on Montvale Ave, Stoneham, at the conclusion of the remembrance service to continue his REMEMBRANCE celebration.
His family requests, in response to Steve's wishes, that you write your favorite memory or bring a keepsake to be placed with Steve in memorial.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 20th at the Barile Funeral Home, at 12pm followed by the burial at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
