Stephen F. Shaughnessy of Newburyport, MA, formerly of Conway, New Hampshire; raised in Stoneham, MA and Framingham, MA entered into eternal rest on August 17, 2014 after a courageous battle with amyloidosis. He was 56.
Steve was a proud Certified Public Accountant and practiced for many years in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts. He was passionate about his work, performing it diligently and with integrity. Steve was very active in his longtime parish, Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in North Conway, NH. He loved his church, living in New Hampshire, playing the guitar, and most of all, his beloved wife and large family.
Steve leaves his gentle and beautiful wife, Monet (delos Santos) Shaughnessy, with whom he shared the happiest years of his life.
He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Francis and Helen Shaughnessy of Malden, Massachusetts; his maternal grandparents, Bert and Elizabeth Sutherby of Somerville, Massachusetts; and his parents-in-law, Sergio and Alicia (Cuarto) delos Santos of Manila, Philippines.
Steve was the eldest son of Frank and Rita (Sutherby) Shaughnessy of Naples, Florida and Concord, New Hampshire, formerly of Framingham and Stoneham, Massachusetts. He was the eldest of ten children, and his loss will be profound for each of them: Ellen Burger and her husband, Peter of New Hampshire; Dr. Joseph Shaughnessy and his wife Harriet of Florida; Brian Shaughnessy and his wife Krista of New Hampshire; Mary Shaughnessy and her husband Matt Shogren of California; Mark Shaughnessy and his wife Maria Fox of Maine; Joan Sousa and her husband Lou of Massachusetts; DJ Shaughnessy and his wife Tracy of Maine; Beth Blades and her husband Chris of Maine; and Michael Shaughnessy and his wife Sarah of Vermont. He will be missed by his Philippine family, including Sal and Helen Provido of Florida. Steve is also survived by scores of nieces and nephews, cousins and numerous aunts and uncles.
Funeral from Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28), Stoneham, Friday, August 22, 2014 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Stephen's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 4-7pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment will be private.
