Stephen P. Sylvester, of Stoneham, formerly of Malden and North Carolina, passed away on Saturday August 1, 2026. He was 79 years of age.
Stephen was a graduate of Malden High School in 1966, He went on to attend Wentworth Institute of Technology Earning a Degree in Electrical Engineering. His professional carrier began at Boeing in Philadelphia, Stephen's work would take him from the Carolina's to Canada, San Francisco to San Juan Puerto Rico & many places in between, He worked on everything from Helicopters to Nuclear Power Plants, Pulp & Paper to Bio Pharmaceutical Projects.
Stephen enjoyed spending time vacationing at New Found Lake in NH with his family and sister Diane & her family. He took pride in trying to give back to the Stoneham community, coaching Little League Baseball & being President of the League during which time the Senior League All Star Teams won back to back State Championships. Stephen also served on several Town of Stoneham committee's including the Recreation, Spot Pond & Open Space as well as volunteering placing Flags up for Veterans Day.
Stephen Loved Christmas time, Independence Day cookouts on the 4th of July and the New England Patriots. He always looked forward to Guy's Night Out And a Good Bourbon with a Cigar.
Stephen is the beloved husband of Margaret R. (DiTrapano) Sylvester. He is the cherished father of Paul Sylvester and Stephen R. Sylvester and his wife Anna and Loving grandfather of Isabella and Antonio Sylvester. Dear brother of the late Diane Raimo and her surviving husband Ray. Brother in-law of Ruth and Jay Dwyer and Bob and Kathy DiTrapano, As well as many Nephews & Nieces.
Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Friday August 7th, 2026 in the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM from 10 am to 12 pm followed by a Funeral Service Celebrating Stephen's Eternal Life at 12. Interment will take place in Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
