Theodore "Ted" Nalwalk

AGE 76 YEARS

He was a resident of Reading, MA for 45 years; beloved Husband of Jane Lavinia (Symonds) Nalwalk for 53 years and Father of Thomas Ezekiel Nalwalk also of Reading. He was the son of Mary Irene (Muraszko) and Joseph Robert Nalwalk, both deceased, from Northampton, MA.

He was born and grew up in the city of Northampton, MA, where he attended Northampton High School, Holyoke Junior College, and Western New England College in a field of study, which encompassed Mechanical Engineering.

His professional experience included working as a Bio-Medical Research Grants for Warren H. Teichner as an Electronic Technician, Research Assistant, Equipment Designer, and Bio-Engineering Technician at University of Massachusetts, Tufts University, and Northeastern University respectively for Ross A. Mcfarland, John D. Dougherty, M.D. as a Technical Associate at Harvard School of Public Health, where the effects of Carbon Monoxide were studied in performance of human activities; for Eric L. Radin, M.D. as a Project administrator in the field of Orthopedic Research at Mount Auburn Hospital, Children's Hospital Medical Center, Harvard University: Museum of Comparative Zoology and Concord Field Station, Massachusetts General Hospital, Massachusetts Institute Of Technology, University of Lowell, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where the effects of joint replacement prosthesis in animals was studied in relation to impact loading on the hip and knee joints, cartilage degeneration, joint lubrication, and replacement materials and cements. He then opened his own business and was the sole owner of a successful Garage Door Business for over 30 years in Reading, MA, where he serviced multitudes of devoted customers with repair and installation of doors, hardware, and electric openers. He was well respected and admired throughout the local area. He had recently retired and was still called on occasion.

He was an avid outdoor sportsman. His activities included: hiking, swimming, cross country skiing, camping on the Boston Harbor Islands, fishing, beach combing, tree cutting, gardening, and hunting. Other hobbies included metal-smithing, carpentry, and design and construction of electrical and mechanical devices; He liked to read novels, watch movies, and Listen to classical music; His favorite travel destinations included: California, Pacific Northwest (Oregon and Washington), Florida, Bermuda, New York, and New England. He was a devout member of Saint Patrick's Parish in Stoneham, MA, where he had served as a Eucharistic Minister.

He is survived by his Wife Jane Lavinia (Symonds) Nalwalk and his Only Son Thomas Ezekiel Nalwalk both of Reading, MA. He also is survived by several cousins; James Krowka and his wife Gwen from Dexter, OR; John Krowka from Boonsboro, MD; Marjory Zaik from Easthampton, MA; and John Zaik from Los Angeles, CA.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM Wednesday April 6th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Ted's Eternal Life in St. Patrick's Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10.

Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Tuesday April 5th from 5-7pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants and elevator available.
